{the 3 step} DIY Nautical Knot Rope Necklace

I've been seeing these around a lot. I'm all for statement necklaces, but for some reason, the big chunky ones never drew me in. However, this weekend, when I went shopping, I saw the cutest rope necklace.. however I didn't think it was worth the money. So, I decided to recreate it! It came out pretty close. I just got some rope from the local hardware/appliance store. To make it more white (or a different colors!) bleach or dye it.

step one
Line two ropes up to each other like shown. Cut off any extra pieces hanging out. Longer ropes will make a longer necklace, shorter will make shorter!

step two
Make a criss-cross-esque shape in the middle of both of the lined up ropes, and make a knot. Tighten it.

step three
Cut off any extra unnecessary pieces. Tie the two ends of the ropes together (the two knots at the top shown in picture 3), and then tie the final rope (or tie it around your neck).

---

And that's it! Remember, if you want to use any pictures, please ask first. I hope you enjoyed this post. Another DIY coming soon! This post was featured in IFB's Links A La Mode.

What do you think of the necklace? Do you like DIY posts?

Such a cute, cheap idea, great for the style-hungry, short-on-cash fashionistas out there (I know one!)...I think maybe it would look cool with a few beads on it too! Congrats on making the LALM list this week :)
